About our old coins
Old coins are small pieces of history you can hold, and the silver ones carry their metal as well as their story. Each coin here is listed with its country, year and denomination, its condition, and its silver content where it has any: many countries struck their everyday coins in silver until around the 1960s, while most later circulation coins are base metal. We photograph both sides wherever we can and describe wear honestly. Coins that come as part of a set stay together, with the whole set described.
